LEPFA seeks an experienced individual to manage, coordinate and supervise the daily activities of the Banquet Department. Sous Chef monitors LEPFA’s F&B contractual requirements making sure they are met, and that F&B services are provided in an efficient, effective and timely manner.
Position is responsible for overall planning, organizing, controlling, and monitoring of banquet activities to ensure appearance and integrity of facility, banquet and culinary activities, food quality, and atmosphere to provide a superior experience. Lansing City Market Intern Position
General Description:
The City Market Intern shall be responsible for the coordination and promotion of the day-to-day activities of the Lansing City Market; the set-up and general maintenance of the facility during associated events, and to ensure that the services of the City Market are provided in an efficient, effective and timely manner.
The City Market Intern will be responsible for planning, organizing, monitoring, and assisting in operations to ensure the maintenance and improvement of the overall appearance and integrity of the facility, grounds, building structure(s) and building systems to provide a superior experience to the guests and/or vendors of the Lansing City Market.
In addition, the City Market Intern shall be responsible for development and implementation of policies and procedures designed to promote efficiency of operation and quality of service.
POSITION REPORTS DIRECTLY TO: Lansing City Market Operations Manager
Job Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement long-term and day-to-day operational policies and procedures for the operations of the City Market and provide overall support while planning, organizing, scheduling, assigning, monitoring, analyzing and correcting work assignments of set-up and related operational activities at the Lansing City Market. Assures the highest quality service to all tenants by establishing goals and ensuring the pursuit of said goals. Participate in the duties required to maintain a clean/efficient facility while continuing to address the daily needs of the market and it's vendors. Help to ensure that the market is correctly protected against improper conducting of market business.
2. Provide a safe environment free of harassment for employees and ensure compliance with all LEPFA policies, applicable OSHA standards and local, state, and federal laws including the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.
3. Conduct regular facility inspections to review facility, equipment, personnel, general activity and share findings and observations with the Operations Manager to assist in maintaining a superior level of facility function, polish and efficiency, and review and recommend equipment, supplies and materials required to provide services to LEPFA and their clients.
4. Ensure department compliance and maintenance of equipment/systems database.
5. Attend, lead, and participate in appropriate LEPFA meetings, and participate in other weekly meetings necessary for conducting external business. Conduct regular interviews with staff and/or vendors to share relevant information and gain feedback relating to methods to improve service to customers, both internal and external, and to insure efficient operations of the facility and their events. Attendance and/or travel may be required for meetings held off site.
6. Develop, maintain, coordinate with other LEPFA personnel to act as liaison with outside organizations, vendors, city departments, private firms and clients and operational service contractors. Maintain communication and coordination channels with all internal departments and operations. Receive and review floor plans of vendor locations and event requirements to ensure safety policies, code compliance and regulations prior to approval by Vice President of Operations.
7. Seek out, develop, and assist in the participation in industry related associations and trade shows in support of quality service to our clients. Keep abreast of innovations, improvements in procedures, and developments within the operational aspects of our industry to seek better methods to improve efficiency, levels of service, personnel performance, and reducing operating costs.
8. Participate in budget meetings and provide input relating to expenditure projection. Review city market operational expenses to include verification of proper coding of all departmental purchases to ensure accurate accounting and sufficient data for appropriate planning and expenditure projecting.
9. Provide leadership on continuous improvement and team building efforts. Participate in employee committees and staff meetings emphasizing team management, high morale and quality service to LEPFA customers.
10. Position may be required at times to participate in and provide support for special events sponsored by LEPFA at other external locations as needed.
11. Use computer terminal to enter and retrieve information and prepare and distribute weekly reports of City Market activities. Create and maintain operational filing system and records to ensure that all operational personnel, equipment, and supplies are accurately maintained.
12. Assist the Marketing Department in client tours to orient prospective customers in building capabilities, information regarding facility structure, operations, and planning.
13. Other duties as assigned.
General Requirements:
1. The City Market Intern shall be knowledgeable in all administrative and operational rules, procedures and programs of the city market and the operations department
2. Position requires irregular schedules, including evenings, weekends and holidays; the performance of work assignments may not be directly related to job specifications. Adjustments of shifts, overtime, breaks, etc. may be required upon short notice
3. Develop and maintain accurate records, logs and reports for the facility.
4. Position requires ability to interact with fellow employees, clients, the general public and outside vendors in a courteous, cooperative and professional manner.
5. Maintain a high public image, positive attitude and demeanor when performing a service for customers and the general public in the facility.
6. Perform other duties, functions, special projects and responsibilities, as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Graduation from an accredited two (2) year college or pursuing a degree at a university in public/business administration, advertising/marketing or related field.
2. Ability to demonstrate thorough knowledge of marketing and promotion, with a special emphasis on events planning and staging within a public assembly facility, farmers’ market, or similar facility.
3. Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills including the ability to motivate others.
4. Must have a thorough knowledge of computer systems.
5. Ability to demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language.
6. Ability to stand or walk for long periods of time.

ON-CALL FACILITY WORKER (Part Time) This position is to provide assistance in an On-Call, as need basis for the facility. As an On-Call facility worker some of your duties will include room set-up/tear down, perform, custodial duties such as cleaning of restrooms, maintaining interior and exterior of facilities.
EVENT STAFF (On Call/Part Time) This position is required to work flexible weekday, evening and weekend hours. There is no minimum hour guarantee. These positions work at the Lansing Center and Oldsmobile Park and are based on event schedules. Available positions are for supervisors, ticket takers, door guards and ushers.
BANQUET SERVER POSITION (Part Time) The Lansing Center is hiring part-time banquet servers. Experience is not necessary but customer service skills are. Server must be able to carry a tray of approximately 20lbs for table service at large banquets. Professional appearance is very important. Hours vary depending on each event.
